Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The manuscript has not been published previously and is not under consideration elsewhere.
  • The manuscript fits the scope of JMMM (refer to the 'About the Journal' section on the website).
  • All files are prepared and submitted: 1) Title page (with full author names and corresponding author email), 2) Blinded manuscript, 3) Graphical abstract (TIFF or PNG, ≥300 dpi)
  • The manuscript file is in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
  • The text is single-spaced, using Times New Roman, 12 pt font throughout (including graphs and tables).
  • Figures are embedded within the manuscript at appropriate points and are in high-resolution TIFF or PNG format (≥300 dpi, preferably 600 dpi).
  • Tables are created using the Word table function with horizontal lines only (no vertical lines) and appropriate captions.
  • All units follow SI conventions: 1) SI units used throughout, 2) A space is used between numbers and units , 3) Scientific notation used appropriately, 4) No use of obsolete or non-SI units like ppm, M, cc, etc.
  • Equations and variables are formatted properly: 1) Variables are italicized, 2) Use 'Insert Equation' tool in Word or LaTeX math mode (no images)
  • References follow IEEE style: 1) Full journal names and author lists, 2) Numbered in order of citation using [ ] brackets
  • Ethical statements included where applicable: 1) Approval for studies involving humans or animals, 2) Conflict of interest disclosure
  • Three suggested reviewers (including name, institution, and email) are provided, and they are not affiliated with any of the authors.

Author Guidelines

***Templates:

The submission requires a Title page, a blinded manuscript, and a graphical abstract.

1. Submission of Manuscripts

The Journal of Metals, Materials and Minerals (JMMM) welcomes submissions of high-quality, original manuscripts in the field of materials science and engineering. Submissions must be written in English and must not have been published or be under simultaneous consideration elsewhere.

The journal accepts the following types of contributions:
1. Original research articles
2. Literature reviews (3,000–10,000 words)

Authors are requested to submit manuscripts via the online submission system at:
https://jmmm.material.chula.ac.th/

All submitted manuscripts will undergo double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers to evaluate technical merit, scientific content, and relevance. Revisions may be required before final acceptance.

The final decision on publication is made by the Editors.

After acceptance, authors may be asked to submit revised files and high-resolution artwork as needed for production.

2. Manuscript Preparation

- Length: Manuscripts should generally be less than 10,000 words (excluding references), although longer papers may be considered in special cases.
- Font: Use a 12-point Times New Roman font.
- Numbering: All pages must be numbered consecutively.
- Figures:
  - Insert figures within the text near where they are first cited.
  - Accepted formats: TIF or PNG with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi (600 dpi recommended).
- Tables:
  - Place tables within the text and number them consecutively.

3. Manuscript Format

Follow this sequence when preparing your manuscript:

1. Title
2. Authors
   - Use full first name, middle name (if applicable), and last name for all authors. Indicate the corresponding author with an asterisk (*) and provide a valid email address.
3. Affiliations
   - Include full institutional affiliations for all authors.
4. Abstract
   - A concise summary (max 250 words) of the objectives, methodology, key results, and conclusions.
5. Keywords
   - Provide a maximum of 5 keywords, separated by semicolons.
6. Main Text
   - Recommended structure:
     - 1. Introduction
     - 2. Experimental Details / Materials and Methods
     - 3. Results and Discussion
     - 4. Conclusion
7. Acknowledgements (if applicable)
8. References
   - Use IEEE citation style with the following specifications:
     - Journal names must be written in full (not abbreviated).
     - All author names must be listed (do not use "et al.").
     - Reference numbers should appear in square brackets [1] and be listed in order of citation.

4. Proofs

Galley proofs will be sent to the corresponding author by email. Proofs should be reviewed and returned within 48 hours. Corrections should be limited to typographical or formatting errors. Substantive changes to the content will not be allowed at this stage.

5. Ethics Statement

Authors must adhere to ethical research and publication standards, including but not limited to:
- Originality of the work
- Proper citation and acknowledgment
- No plagiarism or duplicate submission

If AI tools (e.g., for writing or image generation) were used in manuscript preparation, authors must declare their use transparently.

SI Units and Usage Guidelines

Authors must use the International System of Units (SI) throughout their manuscripts. SI units ensure clarity, consistency, and international understanding of scientific content. Authors should adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Use correct SI unit symbols (e.g., µm for micrometer, not microns; s for seconds, not sec).
  • Include a space between the number and the unit (e.g., 25 °C, not 25°C).
  • Maintain consistent use of units and avoid mixing SI and non-SI units.
  • Scientific notation is preferred for very large or small values (e.g., 1.2 × 10⁵ Pa).
  • Use Roman (upright) type for unit symbols and italicize only variables.

Examples of Correct SI Usage

  • Length: 5 µm
  • Temperature: 25 °C
  • Pressure: 1.2 × 10⁵ Pa
  • Energy: 10 kJ/mol
  • Speed: 20 m/s
  • Concentration: 2.5 × 10⁻³ mol/L
  • Density: 1.2 g/cm³ or 1200 kg/m³
  • Percentage: (70 ± 5) %
